  Los Angeles born singer Alfie Silas' best selling single was There I go from 1982. Silas grew up singing in church and later sang in a gospel group while attending Los Angeles City College. She began singing background vocals, becoming an in-demand background singer for recording sessions. In 1983 she got her deal with RCA Records where she released 2 albums. In 1985 she changed to Motown. After her solo career didn't seem to work out, Silas did what other top background singers Audrey Wheeler and Pennye Ford did, she went back to background work.
