The Bar-kays is a band that hails from Memphis, Tennessee, 1966. Original members were Ronnie Caldwell, Jimmy King, Ben Cauley, James Alexander, Phalon Jones and Carl Cunningham. Big breakthrough for the band came as early as '67 with the legendary Soulfinger-tune. That's when producer Allen Jones decided to work with the band until his untimely dead in the late eighties which left the bandmembers devastated. Bad luck would strike the band also as early as '67 when Otis Redding chose them for his backing band which caused almost every members death in the plane crash that also killed Otis. Throughout the '70s and 80's the line up of the band changed many of times and so did their success. Las musical outing is 48 hours which proved to be a new short-lived version of the band put together by James Alexander.
