Disclaimer
Very few artists have maintained
the same level of success over the years as Evelyn 'Champagne' King.
Born in The Bronx, New York, Evelyn's father sang with both The Orioles
and The Harptones before encouraging his daughter to turn professional
at sixteen following the family's move to Philadelphia. A chance meeting
with producer T.Life lead to the making of Shame, a true classic from
her debut RCA album Smooth talk which has stood the test of time in
terms of its timeless production, also as a song and of course vocally
too. Following the disco days of the 70s, a more sophisticated form
of dance music emerged in the 80s, and Evelyn was once again at the
forefront of this movement with songs like Love come down, Back to
love, I'm in love and Your personal touch, , Kisses don't lie and
have endeared her to the adult soul market ensuring her career's longevity.
Evelyn's album is her first for Expansion Records and reflects all
the qualities that have made her such an outstanding artist over the
years. The music is mature, yet contemporary and full of flavour.
Musicians on board are among the finest in America and include Paul
Jackson Jnr (guitar), Jeff Lorber (keyboards),
Larry Graham (bass), Jerry Hey and Mark Ohlsen (horns).
