  Keyboard player who developed his style serving his jazz apprenticeship, followed by four years with Frank Zappa's legendary Mothers of Invention. Jazz-funk-soul style emerged in partnership with Billy Cobham and was consolidated on solo albums on Epic, including From me to you and Brazilian love affair. Collaboration with Stanley Clarke yielded in the US no. 19 Sweet baby from the acclaimed 1981 album Duke/Clarke Project. Duke has worked extensively as a producer: credits include Taste of Honey's 1981 No. 3 Sukiyaki and Deniece Williams' 1984 hit Let's hear if for the boy, which reached no. 1 in the US and no. 2 in the UK. Duke has also been a busy session musician, appearing on recordings by Aretha Franklin, Quincy Jones and The Whispers.
