Former Diana Ross backing singers Shirley, Valorie and Brenda Jones breezed into limelight on Philadelphia International label: Kenny Gamble-produced debut You gonna make me love somebody else made US top 40 in '79. Unrightfully seen as 2nd Emotions, group nonetheless became dance favourites with tracks like On Target, 2 win U back, Could have been right, Keep it comin', Knockin', Won't let you take it back and You can't have my love; although declining fortunes prompted lenghtly sabbatical from 1984 and 1992 album Coming back appears to have been trio's last gasp. Shirley Jones returned in 1994 with second solo album With you, including remake of group's biggest hit Nights over Egypt. Danceclassic.com was informed that Valerie Jones passed away on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Sinai Grace Hospital. She was 45. The cause of her death has not been determined.
