Keith
Sweat (born Crier) is a Harlem-born (1961) R&B singer/songwriter.
This former Wall Street brokerage assistant, whose voice recalls that
of 1970s singer Steve Arrington, released his first record in 1985
which was called My mind is made up. His debut album, Make It Last
Forever, followed at the end of 1987. The album sold over three million
copies, featuring I want her, Something just ain't right, Make it
last forever (with Jacci McGhee) and Don't stop your love. I Want
her is the groundbreaking single ushered in the genre New Jack Swing,
a hybrid of traditional soul melodies with hip-hop's harder edge.
It was followed in June 1990 by I'll Give all my love to you, another
million-seller-album, which featured Make you sweat and I'll give
all my love to you. Keith Sweat's third album was Keep it comin',
an R&B chart-topper at the end of 1991, whose title track was another
#1 R&B song. In 1994 he returned with Get up on it; a self-titled
release followed in 1996, and a best of entitled Just a touch in 1997.
two years later he issued Still in the game. Sweat has consistently
made R&B and crossover hits by communicating masculine, adult emotions
inside a comfort zone neither supersensitive nor super-macho. |
