Originating from South London's Peckham, Loose End (without the 'S') and later on Loose Ends, were at the forefront of the UK soul scene
in the mid-'80s. Their debut material was written for them by Chris Amoo and Eddie Amoo, who had had UK Singles chart success of their own
in the 1970s, with their group The Real Thing. The band consisted of Jane Eugene, Carl McIntosh and Steve Nichol who was also the founder
of te group. Bid for authenticity saw band recording first albums in US with the Philadelphia-based producer Nick Martinelli resulting in
the '85s So where are you? which spawned two UK hits, Hangin' on a string and Magic touch. The group's line-up changed in the 1990's.
Jane Eugene and Steve Nichol left the band due to musical differences and were replaced by Linda Carriere and Sunay Suleyman but the band
continued to place singles in lower reaches of charts. Hits collection and apparent epitaph, Tighten up, released in 1992, included remixes
by the likes of Frankie Knuckles and PM Dawn. In the meantime, the group had worked with a variety of acts, including Juliet Roberts,
Cheryl Lynn and Caron Wheeler. In 1998 Jane Eugene and Carl McIntosch reunited to appear on the single Take
your time, they also appeared in the music video of the track. The Hangin' on a string track is featured in the videogame Grand Theft Auto IV.
