Houston originating vocalist Mikki Bleu has been performing since he was 12, that's when he sang with local school bands. He recorded his first single single entitled Bedrock in 1982, and the song made such impact that Mikki Bleu eventually toured with groups like the Gap Band, The Barkays, and even Con Funk Shun. He joined Club Nouveau in 1986 and toured with them briefly, but was never involved as a recording groupmember. Bleu went to the Elektra label briefly in 1985, but never gained big success. When he joined EMI in 1989 his first lp entitled I Promise hit the scene from which the title track became a smal success on the Urban Contemporary and R&B front.
