Ray Parker was born 1st of May 1954 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Ray Parker started his career at the Detroit 20 Grand Club. With a permanent move to Los Angeles Ray Parker continued his session work until 1977, when he formed Raydio with other Detroit musicians Arnell Carmichael, Jerry Knight, Vincent Bonham, Larry Tolbert, Darren Carmichael and Charles Fearing. In 1984, Parker secured a multi-million-selling single with the theme song to the film Ghostbusters, although its lustre was somewhat tarnished by allegations that he had plagiarized a Huey Lewis composition. Nonetheless, Parker's success continued as the song secured him a 1984 Grammy award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. In 1986 he moved to the Geffen label, releasing After dark the following year. A single from the album, I don't think that man should sleep alone, was a Top 20 hit in the UK. After producing New Edition's debut album, Parker moved to the MCA.
