Regina Belle made her entrance, duetting with the Manhattans on the 1986 Bobby Womack produced Where did we go wrong. Her 1987 debut All by meself sparked rash of (favourite) Anita Baker comparisons, and led to cameos with Surface and James J.T. Taylor. However, follow-up Stay with me demonstrated that Belle lacked Baker's versatility, and third album Passion, released in '93, was no more remarkable. However she did score a hit duet with Peabo Bryson on A Whole new world, from Disney's Aladdin.
