  As sought-after session singer, Downing appeared on late '70s work by Rose Royce, Billy Ocean and Jennifer Holiday. After a spell with Arthur Baker, he produced Wally Jump Junior & The Criminal Element, and graduated to solo status. Retaining Baker's services, Downing scored immediate hit with his debut album and A love supreme single in '88. Later, reworking John Coltrane's classic, hinted at direction he pursued in early '90s. Although these acclaimed recordings old far better than many other jazz acts, he returned to upper echelons of pop chart only with Mica Paris duet Where is the love in '89. Today, Will Downing is still residing in the USA, married to Audrey Wheeler and also releases new albums from time to time.
